South Wales forestry firm adds sixth Volvo to fleet

Karl Jones, who has been in business 20 years this year said, “I started off by buying used Volvo’s and we’ve just taken an ‘M’ plate vehicle off the road. They’re a really hardy truck and I started to become a real fan then. We got our first new Volvo four years ago and have been running with them ever since.”
He added, “The new FM is such a rugged looking truck, there’s plenty of room inside and the low overall cab height is good for the work we do in the forest as it helps avoid overhanging trees. The cab size and height was a major factor in choosing the FM. They’re reliable trucks that don’t fall apart on tough jobs like forestry. We couldn’t really go anywhere else than Volvo.”
The new FM was supplied by Volvo Truck and Bus Centre Wales and West of Pontypridd. It comes complete with a five-year Volvo R & M package and will be serviced at the local Pontypridd depot, who also supplies the necessary AdBlue.
Karl Jones transport round timber to the sawmill at Crumlin for Gwent Timber Products from all over South and Mid-Wales, but especially the Valley of Neath. They also stockpile timber in the forest for a local bio-fuel plant.
