Another dose of Volvo for Unisurge with Anniversary FH-480

Reliability was a key factor in the decision to purchase the FH, according to Unisurge’s Transport Manager. “We’ve always had Volvo’s,” says Steve Carter, “and they’ve always been reliable; we’ve never had a problem with the ’05 FLs we run.”
Equipment levels and appearance were behind the choice of the 80th Anniversary truck. “They’re certainly prettier,” says Steve, who has long been aware of the importance of well-presented vehicles in maintaining a company’s reputation. “The specification is also a lot higher than the standard truck. I think it was the leather seats that sealed the deal!”
The limited edition 4x2 drawbar prime mover offers the company a blend of reliability, strong corporate image and a high degree of flexibility. As Steve, points out, “We can leave the trailer behind and do on-site deliveries even in London; it’s only three feet longer than the 12 tonne Volvo FL rigids we use, but at the same time it’s got the capacity to do full-capacity runs up to our sterilisation plant.”
The truck will be maintained on a full service contract by the supplying Dealer - Volvo Truck and Bus Centre East Anglia of Ely. “It means we don’t have to work out the service schedule,” Steve explains, “because they let us know when it’s due. We drop it off, they return it, and we don’t need to worry about he cost because it’s all in the contract.”
