Green & Skinner celebrate 50 years with new Volvo’s

Commenting on the new additions, Michael Skinner, Managing Director of the second-generation family-owned business said, “Over the years, we’ve purchased many Volvo’s and we’re currently running twelve. They suit our distribution operation well and their unladen weight is very competitive. The Volvo chassis is good for both platform and curtainsider vehicles and we’ve been very happy with the fuel economy.”
The new trucks were supplied by local Dealer, Volvo Truck and Bus Centre East Anglia, Ipswich. As Michael added, “One of the reasons we’ve continued with Volvo is because of the close relationship we have built with the local Dealer who are only fifteen minutes away. We work closely with them and as we do our own maintenance, it’s important to maintain a dialogue with them. They help us out when we need it or point us in the right direction with regard to maintenance issues. When we need a part, we need a part now and it must be readily available. It all comes down to Volvo being really flexible.”
Michael concluded, “We operate all over the UK and our drivers are usually out two nights per week, so it’s important that comfort levels are acceptable to the driver. In addition, we’re getting a good payload and excellent body length for the volume traffic we handle. It’s a nice looking vehicle and the driver is certainly very pleased, which is important.”
