Trust in dealer service seals deal for R H Plant Hire’s first Volvo

A Newcastle-under-Lyme plant hire company’s trust in the quality of Volvo Dealer Hartshorne (Potteries) back-up was a fundamental part of their decision to buy their first ever Volvo truck.

R H Plant Hire specialise in the supply of traffic management systems. The company’s new Volvo FL-240 is being used to install traffic management schemes along the trunk road network throughout Staffordshire to protect the workforce engaged in maintenance. The platform bodied FL features rear impact protection and brakes which apply automatically in the event of a rear end shunt.

R H Plant Hire Managing Director Lee Heath praised Hartshorne for the Dealer’s responsiveness and willingness to work closely with their customers. “We’ve known Hartshorne for a long time and we needed a truck quickly due to a recent escalation in our workload. We can go to Hartshorne with any problems and know they will respond. It’s primarily a trust thing.”

Lee further explains why the company chose Volvo. “We needed a reliable truck and Volvo’s reputation is ‘second to none’. Being able to specify the truck with a dual passenger seat which allows three man operation was also an important feature.”

Lee continues, “The medium cab layout is good. It has more space than a Standard Day cab and has excellent storage space behind the seats for wet weather and high visibility gear as well as the crew’s personal belongings.”

The FL was also specified with a night heater as the truck can be parked up for long periods of time waiting for the go-ahead to begin working on a traffic management scheme.
