Debach continue to add ‘unbeatable’ Volvo’s with new FH-480’s

17th November 2008 Print
Volvo FH-480 Ipswich’s Debach Enterprises - one of East Anglia's leading logistics solution providers – has taken delivery of three new Volvo FH-480 tractor units. The 6x2 I-Shift vehicles are part of an acquisition programme consisting of 10 tractor units plated at 44 tonnes and 4 FL rigids plated at 18 tonnes.

“We have been using Volvo trucks now for about 25 years, and I really can’t rate them highly enough.“ says Transport Manager Denis Fairs, “Whether it’s price, reliability, comfort or aftersales support, you just can’t beat them. Certainly in terms of service they are quite exceptional – we have a fantastic relationship with Volvo Truck and Bus Centre East Anglia at Ipswich; it really is a matter of repairs at the flick of a switch.” 20 of the company’s trucks are Volvo; the Ipswich dealership will be handling maintenance on an extended, 5-year R&M contract basis.

In keeping with Debach’s concern with progressive environmental policies, the new Volvo trucks will be teamed with some aerodynamic, fuel-efficient trailers using Decker bodies on a Wilson chassis. The double-decked curtainsiders are not suited for all operations, says Denis, “but on jobs like multi-drop and overnight hub runs, where their gooseneck construction isn’t an issue, the fuel savings they offer will be a significant factor. It’s not just about the financial aspect; we like to think we’re doing as much as anybody on eco-issues.”
