Volvo returns to Magnus with FH-480 acquisitions

Volvo FH-480 tractor units Ipswich-based general logistics provider Magnus Group has begun a programme of Volvo truck acquisitions; the first five of an extensive slate of FH-480 tractor units have recently been delivered. The first Volvo tractor units to join the fleet in some years, they will operate in Magnus livery, including the familiar female name decals, on behalf of a range of clients. The new trucks replace a variety of non-Volvo vehicles.

John Stringer, Magnus Group’s General Manager (Transport), explains the return of Volvo to an organisation which prides itself on a “modern, well-maintained and distinctive” fleet as well as its commitment to investment, innovation and a high standard of equipment and technology generally. “We had used Volvo for quite a while but, over time, the number in the fleet had fallen to four out of 96. They had always been in the frame, though, and now we’ve started to bring them back in. The Dealer’s location is ideal, with Volvo Truck and Bus Centre, East Anglia, having a depot just down the road. We also know we can expect excellent aftersales support. When it came to these fleet replacements, we sat down with their team and they proved to us that they could meet our needs.”

A further 24 of the 6x2 tractor units with Globetrotter XL cabs will enter service over the next 15 months, bringing Volvo’s presence in the Magnus heavy commercial fleet up to around 30%.

Covering a range of routes in the UK and Europe, they will be maintained by the supplying dealer on an extended, four-year R&M contract.
