Universal buy new Volvo flagship to complement its brand image

28th January 2009 Print
Volvo FM-400 8x2 When the entire nation seems to be focusing on the doom and gloom of the credit crunch its inspiring to find a new young company who is upbeat and positive about the future of its business. St Helens-based Universal Tanker Services are bucking the trend and going all out to promote and increase awareness of their services, reposition the company and build their brand image.

The introduction of their first-ever Volvo truck into their 15-strong fleet is the first step in the company’s strategic plan to increase brand awareness and position themselves as the premium supplier for both domestic and commercial customers requiring the emptying and servicing of septic tanks, the servicing of self-contained anti-vandal welfare units and the delivery of non potable water.

Matthew Gunn, partner of Universal Tanker Services LLP commented “The Volvo marque is a first for us, as is the fitting of the Whale tanker body. We decided on Volvo as we believe their core values closely match the values our company aspires towards. These include ‘quality’, ‘safety’ and ‘caring for the environment’ in everything we do.”

Matthew continued, “The Volvo FM-400 13-litre 8x2 rear-steer Euro-5 tanker achieves everything we require in a flagship vehicle; looks, performance and association with one of the best names in the industry. We haven’t been disappointed. The Volvo drives like a car. It’s comfortable, the gearbox is smooth and its manoeuvrability, when working in confined spaces, is exceptional”.

Matthew concluded “The fully-automated Whale vacuum tanker can carry 3,600 gallons of waste and 400 gallons of water enabling us to turn up to a site and carry out all the clients requirements with the one vehicle.

Paul Boulds Transport/Operations manager for Universal added, “The Volvo was purchased from Mark Lingard, Regional Sales Manager for Thomas Hardie Commercials, on a five-year R & M contract with their Liverpool depot. We found the level of service provided by Mark and Thomas Hardie exceptional and would certainly purchase another Volvo from them”.

Paul went on to explain “This year our focus is on growth within the Domestic Treatment Plant Emptying market and this vehicle will help us to perform with exceptional levels of service within this market. We operate with an ever-growing customer base and pride ourselves on the level of service we provide to our clients.”
