Starting on 1 July Avianca will increase its regular operation on the London-Bogota-London route with a non-stop daily flight between the two cities.

Comments Mark Wright, Founder of Chameleon Worldwide, the UK’s leading tour operator to Colombia: “This is great news and just goes to show how rapidly the popularity of Colombia is growing as a destination.

“The new flights also open up the prospect of exciting two or even three centre holidays combining Colombia with Costa Rica, Peru and Ecuador, and other destinations within the Americas.”

Chameleon Worldwide has seven recommended itineraries to choose from to Colombia with a further eight choices throughout Central and South America (all trips can be tailor-made depending on requirements).

The most popular itinerary is the two week Highlights of Colombia which combines a great mix of the country’s famous cities including the capital Bogota – which is home to the world famous Gold Museum – and colonial Cartagena with its amazing Spanish architecture, with a stay on a coffee estate and a visit to Tayrona N.P.

The holiday will include:

A walking tour of Bogota with a ride on the Monserrat cable car for great views over the city, plus a visit to the famous Gold Museum, first founded in 1939, to protect the archaeological patrimony of Colombia

A chance to see the Chicaque Cloud Forest, the underground Zipaquira Salt Cathedral and Guatavita Lagoon - home of the El Dorado legend

Three nights in ‘coffee country’ to learn about the world’s favourite beverage with a visit to Valle de Cocora to see the giant palm trees, and a gentle float down a river on a bamboo raft

A stay in the walled city of colonial Cartagena to admire its amazing architecture, with a guided city tour and time to chill in the relaxing Caribbean atmosphere

Enjoy a boat trip to the Rosario Islands to snorkel, swim or relax

A stay in Santa Marta, with a chance to visit Tayrona National Park, to explore the wild beaches and jungle, and to swim in the warm sea

The holiday costs from £2150 pp (two sharing) which includes flights, all transportation, 12 nights’ B&B, some meals, activities as per itinerary and guides.
