Motorbikes draw crowds to BCA

The most recent sale at the end of March created interest with a new Ducati 1098 S being offered. The 1098s is the hottest motorbike in the market and is the best performing road-legal Ducati ever, thanks to extreme weight saving and massive use of racing components in its construction. Launched in December last year, it is described as the most powerful and lightest twin-cylinder superbike in history. Buyers packed the auction hall at BCA Peterborough for the sale and the Ducati was the real star of the show, selling for £13,100 – near to its list price of £14,000.
However, top price on the day went to the 2005-registered Harley Davidson Custom Shop Fat Boy, which had covered just 5,000 miles from new. This custom-built bike sold for £15,000. Another strong seller was the 2004-registered Ducati 998 Special Edition Matrix Reloaded, which realised £5,700.
In total, BCA sold 147 out of 148 motorbikes entered, generating a turnover of nearly £500,000 and an average selling price of £3,800.
BCA Peterborough Manager Andy McDonald commented “Our bike sales are attracting a huge turn out of buyers and we are fast becoming ‘the marketplace’ for motorbikes. Buyers tell us it is rare to get the opportunity to bid on so many motorbikes in one place at one time, and with such a range on offer, there is something for everybody in our sales.”
