Web site makes driving abroad easier and safer for company motorists
A new Avis/BA website aims to educate company motorists about all aspects of driving in the country they are visiting, even before their plane has touched down.avisba.com has a section – Driving Guides - dedicated to helping drivers reduce the stress of driving in a foreign country as they can do all their homework on the site before they go.
This site is also a bonus for employers who are encouraged to draw drivers’ attention to this information before they travel as an extension of their Duty of Care responsibilities.
The website covers 16 European countries, America, Australia, South Africa and New Zealand, providing clear and concise descriptions on a range of information including:
A description of popular road signs
The documentation drivers are required to carry
Speed Limits
Drink/Drive Limits
Traffic offence fines
Other traffic regulations eg wearing seatbelts, warning triangles etc.
The website also provides a range of Handy Hints that explain driving etiquette information by country. For instance, in France understanding headlight flashing, what to do on toll roads, how to park in cities and the confusing ‘Priorite a droite’ right-of-way rule.
“We appreciate the difficulties drivers can face when setting out to drive in an unfamiliar country in a make and model of car that they may never have driven before,” explained Daniel McCarthy, Avis Commercial Director.
“By offering the guides on the Avis/BA website, we can help drivers research their own information on the destination they are visiting. In addition our location staff are happy to answer any questions or concerns regarding foreign driving before customers pick up their keys,” he added.
