If you’re missing ‘Life on Mars’ already drive a great 70’s car
The second – and final – series of BBC TV’s ‘Life on Mars’ came to a thrilling conclusion this week. But for those who lived through the ‘70’s and want to carry on reminiscing, a visit to a British Car Auction (BCA) classic car auction could be the answer. In the last six months, BCA has sold a wide range of Seventies cars in its Classic Car auctions, with values from a few hundred pounds for a 1979 Volvo Coupe to over £17,000 for a 1973 Lotus Elan which had one owner from new and only 28,000 miles on the clock . The next BCA Classic auction on 7th June at Brooklands, Surrey, promises to feature even more collectable 70’s cars for fans of the glam’ rock era – and the TV series!
“We have noticed a definite rise in interest in 70’s vehicles over the last year”, confirmed Robin Lawton, Manager of BCA’s Classic Car Division. “This could be down to increased interest in the decade thanks to the BBC TV series – or just that car collectors are starting to recognise the value of these iconic cars. Featuring everything from sporting MG models, through to the classic Jensen Interceptor and Rover 2200 TC, the 70’s cars we have sold have appealed to a wide range of buyers – but typically those that grew up in that decade and have fond memories of the era.
