It's all about food, yoga and walking in Croatia this May

This May, Satvada Retreat’s Luxury Yoga and Walking Holiday in Croatia (21-26 May) is all about food, with delicious locally sourced produce that comes straight from the owner’s garden.

On the host island of Brac, the cuisine is traditionally Mediterranean, with an emphasis on lovingly prepared, home-grown cooking. Local specialties include svježi sir, a traditional fresh cheese enjoyed as an accompaniment to a salad; and grilled fish from the surrounding waters.

Both specialties will be on offer on this retreat. Food is super-fresh, vegetarian and lovingly prepared by our cook, a favourite local chef who ran a restaurant for many years. Also expect fragrant, organic dishes bursting with flavour: freshly baked bread, home-grown veggies and heaps of the local delicacy, fragrant olive oil, from the surrounding countryside. While the emphasis is on healthy eating, the retreat also aims to be sensuous, and every afternoon guests can sit down to tea and fresh cakes and pastries.

Co-founder Lucia Cockcroft says: “Last May’s group told us that the meals -served by the pool - were one of the highlights of the trip. We’re sure you will agree that the taste, presentation, love and care poured into the cooking, twinned with the freshness of the raw ingredients, makes for a wonderful dining experience.”

Whilst not enjoying the tasty local produce, you can learn to unwind, with two daily 90-minute yoga classes suitable for all levels of yoga practitioner: a morning hatha flow class and a gentler yoga and mindfulness meditation session before dinner. Both classes are taught by the lovely Sarah, a long standing and popular teacher with Satvada. Alternatively, perhaps you would like to go swimming at the beach, just a few meters from the villa.

Also included are two guided walks from the door (between two and three hours' long) and an optional trip to a nearby monastery, while the island's lovely capital Supetar is a beautiful off-road 25-minute stroll away.

There will also be plenty of downtime, giving to opportunity to explore the magical beach of Bol or perhaps an afternoon trip to Split.

The venue has been hand-picked for its tranquil beach-side location, private infinity pool with amazing see views and gardens, indoor and outdoor yoga space and the stunning walks right on its doorstep.

The holiday costs from £899 pp (two sharing a room) which includes all yoga sessions, five nights’ full-board, fruit, tea/coffee, afternoon home-made cake and two guided walks (between 2 and 3 hours long).

Transfers have been arranged to meet a specific flight, and the ferry ride to Brac is around £7 extra. Flights not included. For more information, visit satvada-retreats.co.uk.
