Three sales in 10 minutes for Redrow’s new homes in Prestwich

Defiant homebuyers have shown they’re happy to invest in bricks and mortar despite last week’s Brexit result.

More than 1,500 visitors turned up at four brand new Redrow developments over the weekend, with queues forming from first light in one location and one customer spending the night in his car at another!

Among those new developments was Woodland View, in Prestwich, off Pinfold Drive.

Redrow Homes (Lancashire) sales director Claire Jarvis said: “We’ve seen political turmoil and a degree of economic uncertainty since last week’s EU referendum result and we really didn’t know what to expect when we launched Woodland View over the weekend. In the event we had people queuing from 5.30am and sold the first three properties in 10 minutes.

“We also took ‘early bird’ registrations on three more plots, which will give people the priority to purchase those properties when they are released for sale.”

Woodland View is a brand new development which will eventually feature 30 apartments and 67 houses, including 24 properties which will be sold at 80% of market value. Demand has been huge, with over 1,000 people on Redrow’s pre-launch database.

The first phase features three and four-bedroom homes from Redrow’s Arts & Crafts inspired Heritage Collection. Only three properties were released for sale at the weekend and all were reserved in 10 minutes, at prices between £324,995 and £329,995. Fully furnished show homes are due to open in October.

Among the lucky ones who secured a property on the day were Candice and Jamie Myers, but it very nearly wasn’t the case.

Candice, 30, explained: “We’d been told only three properties were going to be released for sale and stayed in a hotel locally the night before so we could be there early. However, when we arrived at 8.30am there were four people already in front of us in the queue. We were chatting to people casually and trying to work out if they were after the same house design, The Oxford, as us!”

Candice, a nanny, and 32-year-old Jamie, a recruitment consultant in the finance and banking sector, are relocating from London to be closer to Candice’s family in Manchester when their first child is born later this year.

“We want to get onto the property ladder and Manchester is much more affordable than London, although Jamie will continue with his job and commute. I also want to be closer to my mum once the baby is born,” Candice said.

“I started looking at new homes in the Prestwich area online and, originally, was interested in another development by a different builder. However, I kept browsing and when I saw the Redrow homes I couldn’t believe how amazing they looked, they’re so different from typical new homes both outside and in. They said ‘coming soon’ and now I’m so glad we waited.”

Candice and Jamie have reserved a four-bedroom detached Oxford style home – which they hope will be ready to move into by January next year – and Candice says last week’s Brexit vote made no difference at all: “We need to get onto the property ladder and we need to create a home for our family. Woodland View is perfect.”

Redrow’s Claire Jarvis added: “The Myers’ response is fairly typical. Most people we spoke to, both here and at another site we launched in Liverpool, were taking a very pragmatic view about Brexit and any likely impact on the housing market. The fact remains that after decades of undersupply the UK faces an acute housing crisis and we believe this will continue to fuel the demand for new homes.”

The Woodland view development is situated just off junction 17 of the M60, is less than four miles from Manchester, on the doorstep of Phillips Park with its extensive woodland and open spaces, and handy for the independent shops and eateries of Prestwich village, as well as having a large Tesco superstore nearby.
