Older people wanting to live independently in the company of like-minded individuals and with access to luxurious hotel-style facilities can have their cake and eat it at Eastbank Court in Worcester.

And they can find out how by visiting an open day at the popular Aspen Retirement development this Saturday (July 16), when potential home owners and their families can sample the enviable standard of living.

From 11am to 5pm they will be able to explore the development, including the excellent communal facilities and spacious apartments and tuck into a cream tea prepared by professional chefs in the on-site restaurant.

There will also be the chance to meet those who’ve already bought apartments and enjoy living there.

Glenys Bastin, from Aspen Retirement, said: “Older people are often fiercely protective of their independence and mistakenly think that moving to somewhere like Eastbank Court means they’ll lose some of the freedoms they currently enjoy. In fact it’s quite the opposite. Most people who’ve made an apartment here their home are enjoying a new lease of life and can now look forward to living independently for longer.

“They love being able to visit the hair salon for a bit of pampering before meeting friends and neighbours for a leisurely lunch and a glass of wine in the on-site restaurant. In the afternoon they can enjoy sitting in the gardens, take part in a sing-a-long, exercise class or perhaps make a trip to the theatre. Of course, if they prefer, they can simply enjoy the peace and quiet of their own apartment.”

Current availability includes a choice of one-bedroom apartments and a final two-bedroom apartment, all of which are surprisingly spacious. Prices start from £184,950 or £147,960 with Aspen Assist.

The Aspen Assist shared equity scheme gives people aged 70 and over the option to pay just 80% of the purchase price, with Aspen retaining the remaining 20% until the property is resold at a later date.

“Eastbank Court is proof that there’s no need to compromise between communal facilities and having your own space as both are perfectly matched,” Glenys added.

“The individual apartments have plenty of space for a dining suite as well as a sofa or comfy chairs in the living room; while bedrooms are large enough for twin single beds, if preferred. Bathrooms boast both a bath and walk-in shower.”

There’s a manager on duty around the clock for added peace of mind, with the option to add extra care if and when it’s needed.

A guest suite is available for when family and friends come to stay.

To sample life at Eastbank Court, visit the development from 11am to 5pm this Saturday (July 16).
