Motorpoint invites Irish car buyers to take advantage of huge savings

According to a recent report, a growing number of consumers in Ireland are turning to British car supermarkets to capitalise on the huge savings which they offer on new and used vehicles, compared to the dealer list prices in their own country. Even when VRT, the domestic vehicle tax which equates to around 25% of the expected selling price (subject to the engine size of the vehicle) has been added, and all other duties and travel costs have been taken into account, it still works out cheaper to buy a vehicle from the British mainland. It is estimated that up to 80,000 vehicles are likely to be imported into Ireland this year.

Whilst some choose to take advantage of comparatively lower prices in Northern Ireland, Motorpoint, the UK’s largest car supermarket, is able to offer even greater savings through its very competitively priced range of vehicles. The site in Burnley is located close to both the port of Liverpool which has two daily crossings to Dublin, and to John Lennon Liverpool Airport which also had regular flights to Ireland. Equally, the Motorpoint site in Newport, South Wales, which offers the biggest range of new and used vehicles out of the five sites, is located close to Cardiff International Airport, which has frequent flights to Dublin, and Pembroke for ferry crossings.
