National New Homes Week – 15 to 21 May – is the perfect time to discover the benefits of buying a brand-new family home at flagship Cardiff housing development, The Mill, Canton.

Buyers have been quick to snap up homes at this stunning riverside community just west of Cardiff city centre since the first properties were released by Lovell Homes this spring.

Homes currently available include the three-bedroom Aspen house style which is one of the development’s largest properties and offers generously proportioned living space over three floors. An outstanding contemporary home, its classic looks are combined with a thoroughly modern interior which has been created with the focus on versatility.

“The Aspen is traditional in appearance but with a contemporary internal design giving purchasers plenty of options for how they use its three floors,” explains Lovell regional sales director Julie Bowen. “Buyers aren’t restricted by traditional room layouts but can arrange the space to suit the way they live their lives. Although ideal for families, with bedrooms which would suit both teenagers and younger children, it’s a home which would work equally well for a couple, particularly anyone who works from home and is looking for a comfortable and stylish home office.”

On top of highly flexible living space, the Aspen offers incredible value too. Prices for this attractive three-bedroom home, with parking, start from £295,000 - or £236,000 if purchased using a Help to Buy – Wales Equity Loan*. Available on selected properties at The Mill, the Help to Buy – Wales Equity Loan enables purchasers to secure a brand-new home with as little as a five per cent deposit. (All homes at The Mill are also subject to an Estate Management service charge).

The Aspen’s ground-floor layout perfectly demonstrates the home’s versatile accommodation. It features a spacious kitchen with French doors leading to the garden, a welcoming hallway, downstairs cloakroom and separate dining room with feature window. But with the kitchen large enough to fit a dining table, the dining room could work just as well as a family recreation room or home cinema – just tailor the space to suit your lifestyle!

On the first floor is the large living room, the family bathroom and a third room which would make a fantastic bedroom for a teenager seeking greater independence or which, alternatively, could be used as a spacious home office. The second floor offers two double bedrooms, including the master bedroom with en-suite facilities - an arrangement ideal for parents with younger children providing them with the security of having their children sleeping close by.

The Mill is creating a brand-new urban village in Canton, transforming the former Arjo Wiggins paper mill site with stylish apartments and houses. The 800 homes under construction include 358 homes for open market sale by Lovell and 442 homes for rent for the Tirion Group. The homes for Tirion – which will be managed by Cadwyn Housing Association – are made up of 325 properties for discounted rent, 42 homes for open market rent and 75 homes for social rent. The scheme is going ahead with the support of Welsh Government and financial backing from the Principality Building Society; the Tirion Group is developing it in partnership with Lovell.
