Citroen includes Berlingo in Trafficmaster Smartnav programme
The addition of new Smartnav services for 2008 creates an opportunity for customers to experience greater efficiency, reduced emissions and lower fuel costs with their Citroen vans. Citroen has also just expanded the range of vehicles equipped with Smartnav and stolen vehicle tracking, increasing the number of models able to take advantage of these new benefits. The UK on-sale date for new Berlingo is 5 June – and from then, all new Berlingo vans (except the Berlingo 1.6i 16V 90 L1 625 X) will have Trafficmaster Smartnav and stolen vehicle tracking fitted as standard – a first in the UK high-cube van sector. This equipment is already fitted as standard to Citroen Dispatch and Relay panel vans.
The 2008 enhancements to the unique Citroen Trafficmaster Smartnav and stolen vehicle tracking packages now include three years’ Active Traffic Management, which can provide significant productivity gains for operators.
The Trafficmaster Active Traffic Management feature is unique in its ability to save time and fuel and thus considerably improve vehicle productivity. Active Traffic Management is made possible thanks to Trafficmaster’s comprehensive network of 7,500 fixed traffic sensors, backed up by live traffic data sent back by 60,000 intelligent vehicle probes.
When Smartnav has been set to provide a route from A to B, Active Traffic Management constantly re-evaluates the optimum routing option and automatically redirects the driver as necessary should traffic conditions change. Thus, the Trafficmaster-equipped Citroen van is able to get from A to B in the most efficient manner, saving time, fuel and reducing driver stress levels.
Robert Handyside, Citroen’s commercial vehicle operations manager, explains, “Citroen is the first European manufacturer to offer Trafficmaster Smartnav and stolen vehicle tracking as standard on Dispatch and Relay panel vans. Now we are expanding the benefits of this system to include the new Berlingo van range. No other manufacturer of light commercial vehicles has shown such a strong commitment to providing its customers with such a powerful tool to improve vehicle efficiency, reduce emissions, cut costs, reduce driver stress levels and help raise safety standards.”
Also, in another unique move for any European light commercial vehicle manufacturer, Citroen is providing optional, low-cost access to Trafficmaster’s new Fleet Director fleet management tool.
