Berlingo First – Citroen continues a winning formula

10th April 2008 Print
Citroen Berlingo First To complement the new Berlingo and Nemo ranges, Citroen is continuing to market its most successful van ever with the launch of the new Berlingo First range. The new range consists of two competitively priced, 600kg payload vans. The Berlingo First 1.4i is powered by a Euro 4 75hp petrol engine, while the Berlingo First 1.6HDi has a Euro 4 75hp diesel engine, which is able to run on up to 30 per cent bio diesel without modification.

The specification of the Berlingo First has been developed to provide low entry cost, from just £9,065 + VAT + delivery for the Berlingo First 1.4i model and £10,115 + VAT + delivery for the Berlingo First 1.6HDi. A number of carefully chosen and competitively priced options are available to enable the Berlingo First to be tailored to match different operational requirements.

Robert Handyside, Citroen’s commercial vehicle operations manager, comments, “The original Berlingo has been Citroen’s most successful van ever. Thus, we are delighted that we can continue to offer this model in the form of the new Berlingo First range. We expect the Berlingo First to play a significant role in the newly expanded UK Citroen LCV range. Both Berlingo First models provide proven, competitively priced business transport solutions – and the petrol engined model will appeal to operators who have already specified its predecessor with Nicholson McLaren Engines petrol/LPG conversions.”

The Berlingo First offers a useful blend of load carrying practicality, with a cab that provides the driver with a safe, comfortable and convenient working environment. The Berlingo First’s high driving position and large doors make getting in and out far easier for the driver – an important consideration in multi-drop operations. Standard equipment for the Berlingo First includes:-

driver’s airbag, anti-submarine seats and pyrotechnic seat belt pre-tensioners
RDS radio/CD player, with steering column mounted controls
variable power assisted steering, with height adjustable steering column
adjustable door mirrors.

The Berlingo First can carry a full size pallet (1000 x1200mm) or two smaller metric pallets. It has a load deck length of 1700mm, a 1600mm maximum width and has a 600kg payload capability. Standard load compartment equipment includes load securing eyes, interior load area lighting and a ladder frame bulkhead behind the driver.

Both Berlingo First models have a gross vehicle weight of under 2,000kg, which allows them, under UK legislation, to run at 70mph on motorways and dual carriageways and 60mph on unrestricted single carriageway roads.

Available options for the Berlingo First range include a Pack Plus, which provides remote central locking, electric front windows and heated, electrically adjustable door mirrors. Other Berlingo First options include air conditioning, a nearside, sliding side load door, a choice of bulkheads and a front passenger airbag.
