Tracker grows its fleet management system

25th April 2007 Print
TRACKER sales reveal that growing numbers of small and medium sized businesses are turning to fleet management systems to improve working practices and save costs.

First quarter figures show a 60 per cent increase in sales of its TRACKER Reporter Vehicle Asset Management (VAM) system over the same period in 2006.

Reassuringly, the latest results ensure the trend set in 2006, a year in which overall VAM sales were 60 per cent higher than in 2005, has continued with the majority of new business achieved within the SME sector.

TRACKER says its sales figures support its belief that GPS/GSM-based vehicle fleet management systems are now a priority among businesses which operate vehicle fleets, no matter the size.

Mark McKeever, Commercial Manager at TRACKER, said: “There’s an urban myth within the vehicle fleet industry that fleet management systems are preserved only for those major transport companies which operate large commercial fleets. Our sales figures prove that it is just that, a myth.

“TRACKER Reporter has proven to be incredibly effective for all businesses, particularly those within the small and medium sized sector looking for an immediate return on investment through savings in running costs and instant improvements to working practices.

“While our VAM sales have continued to increase over the past 12 months, our data shows that while larger companies continue to invest in fleet management systems, we’re experiencing particular success within the small and medium sized business sector.”

The latest sales figures also support TRACKER’s decision two years ago to redesign its core product so it delivers an uncomplicated user-friendly system geared to meeting all fundamental client requirements.

Douglas McGlade, health and safety director for Morris and Spottiswood, one of the UK’s leading shop fitting and maintenance companies, sanctioned the installation of its entire 60-strong fleet of vans within its Fitting division.

While the instant ability to improve fleet management and, in doing so, make cost savings, was the main reasons for installing TRACKER Reporter, he also believed the investment aids his company against, what he believes, will be “inevitable” changes in health and safety legislation!

Mr McGlade said: “We turned to TRACKER Reporter and saw instant improvements to our fleet management, improvements which translate to cost savings and better health and safety practices. The results have been outstanding.”

He added: “It is only when you start using the system the entire benefits become apparent. TRACKER Reporter has cleared up countless queries with regard to working time, we’ve improved driving habits and even used the system to provide our clients with progress reports on projects.”
