Event managers at iconic South West attraction the Grand Pier, Weston-super-Mare, are preparing for a bumper season of romantic marriage proposals as local people search for increasingly unique ways to pop the question.

Managers at the Grand Pier say that December is their busiest time for exciting engagements as people take advantage of the magic of the festive season and bite the bullet to ask the all-important question.

Standing proud a quarter of a mile out to sea with magnificent views of the beachfront, the Grand Pier is one of the most unique settings for a proposal in the South West and the events team are getting ready to provide help and creative ideas to nervous fiancés-to-be.

A newly launched offer gives added incentive with the happy couple receiving a glass of bubbly each and 10% off a subsequent wedding package booked at the venue, when the proposal is arranged through the events team.

Hollie Otley, events manager at the Grand Pier, said: “We absolutely love it when people choose the Pier for a romantic proposal location and do everything we can to make sure it all runs smoothly and the couple have a perfect memory to treasure forever.

“Last year we helped with several engagements around Christmas time and loved helping out sourcing props and making sure the couples had a private moment together.

“We have become renowned as one of the top wedding venues in the South West in recent years, especially among couples who are looking for something a little bit different.

“But we are also increasingly seeing a trend in people wanting to get down on one knee and pop the question here too!

“It’s easy to see why with the stunning views and romantic nostalgia of the Pier. Also at dusk, the sunsets can be lovely and the twinkling lights along the shore add a backdrop you don’t find easily. It’s much more unique and private than a restaurant setting!

“Couples like the idea of returning to the location of their special engagement for the wedding itself – it creates a real sense of romance and we really become part of their story together.

“We’d like to encourage anyone thinking of proposing this Christmas to get in touch and see how we can help.”

Anyone interested in taking advantage of the proposal offer at the Grand Pier, which gives the happy couple a glass of bubbly each and 10% off a wedding at the venue, should contact the team on 01934 646155 or email weddings[at]grandpier.co.uk
