What to wear when you have ‘nothing to wear’

23rd August 2022 Print

You could own all the clothes in the world, and you’d still wake up some mornings and feel like you have nothing to wear. If this sounds like you, you’d probably benefit from going shopping and picking some suitable for all weather essentials that you can pick and choose from whenever you find yourself struggling.

Keep reading for some ideas of what to wear when you feel as though you have nothing to wear.

Jeans and a trench coat

The true beauty of this outfit idea is that any type of jeans and t-shirt work. Whether your favourite style of jeans is ripped, skinny or boyfriend jeans – they all work with this style. Trench coats are long and typically very neutral so you can pair them with anything on top and you’ll be good to go.

This outfit idea is also gender neutral so check out some cool shirts for men if you want to try out a more masculine jeans and trench coat look with a little extra something.

Denim shorts and an oversized jumper

This style is catered more towards the ladies but men, if this outfit idea is to your style, feel free to rock it!

Denim shorts can be paired with almost anything and are suitable for winter as well as summer. A jumper will help keep you warm while your legs get a bit of fresh air, or you could layer some shorts over a pair or leggings or tights and then add some boots for some extra warmth if it’s especially cold.

A little black dress (or playsuit)

The little black dress number is perfect for almost any occasion and actually doesn’t even need to be a dress at all. Playsuits, jumpsuits, even some black trousers and a black top put together work. Any type of accessory will look good when you’re in your all-black outfit so get creative!

A button-down shirt

In the same way that a nice top and a classic pair of jeans are appropriate for the vast majority of occasions, a button-down shirt can be worn on its own with a belt as a dress and some heels or paired with some jeans, shorts or pretty much any other type of trousers. Even better, it's another gender neutral timeless style, too.

A blazer

Although this isn’t an entire outfit, it is something that you can throw on with just about anything to smarten it up a little bit. We particularly like the jean and slim fit blazer look because it looks both effortless and fits the business casual look to a T.

This specific look is just one of many different options, so invest in a well-fitting blazer and the phrase ‘I have nothing to wear’ will soon be one of the past.

Trousers and a blouse (or shirt)

The blouse and trousers combination is a favourite for a reason. As a man, you might want to swap out the blouse with a bright, short sleeved shirt. The pairing is very adaptable and is sure to result in a comfortable and confident look.

And there you have it - just a few outfit ideas for when you have those days where you feel like you have nothing to wear. These ideas are suitable for men, women and gender nonconforming people alike, so get creative.
