The island has a reputation for providing tourists with top-quality accommodation and service, as well as delicious food and a wide range of fun activities to ensure in. According to Forbes, upwards of 1.7 million visitors come to the Maldives every year with the best months to visit being from November to April. Visitors from all over the world are welcomed to the Maldives with a no-cost 30-day visa on arrival.

How to get to the Maldives?

Before getting ahead of yourself and booking your luxury trip to the Maldives, it's useful to know how you are going to get there. There is only one entrance point for the Maldives, this is via Velana International Airport, located on Hulhulé Island. Luckily, this airport welcomes direct flights from Europe and Asian destinations.

What is there to do in the Maldives?

The Maldives are home to a variety of marine life which is best explored through scuba diving and snorkelling. On your trip get on your wet suit and swim in the beautiful Indian Ocean to discover the colourful corals and reefs. As well as the beauty of the ocean, the Maldives has a fun and unique nightlife. In your evenings you should take a stroll along the beach and you’ll find activities to indulge yourself in.

Be cautious of cultural differences

Most locals who live in the Maldives are Muslim. Therefore, the Maldives has strict rules around the drinking of alcohol.  Tourists are not allowed to bring alcohol into the country or drink it on inhabited islands. Despite this, many resorts, hotels and boats are still licensed to serve alcohol, so you will be able to enjoy a drink or two on your holiday.

Staying in an overwater villa isn’t always necessary

Whilst staying at an overwater villa is often an item on a traveller’s bucket list, they are often overrated. These villas can be hard to access from beaches and are usually compact together with a few other villas, meaning you don’t get as much privacy as you may have hoped for. Consider staying in an all-inclusive hotel instead. This will be more accessible, affordable and offer you the privacy you wish for.

Courtesy of Silversea Cruises 2023 you’ll sink into a realm of tranquillity and serenity, spending six nights at the paradisal Joy Island Maldives, before moving to Singapore and embarking on the Silver Muse cruise.  There is no better way to indulge in the magic of the Maldives than enjoying an all-inclusive beachfront stay designed to let your cares melt away as you soak up the sun and beauties of the Maldives in peace.

Be wary that whilst tipping may not be compulsory at some all-inclusive resorts, many staff members appreciate the gesture, and you may receive even better service in return.  Always check with them first that they are okay with taking tips, as this might differ from resort to resort.
