Renault Magnum shifts dimensions in 2008

18th December 2007 Print
Renault Magnum Renault Trucks will launch a new version of the Renault Magnum in early 2008, with the CV Show at the NEC in April forming the international public launch for this new vehicle.

Featuring a sleeker, more powerful design, the new Renault Magnum is clearly dedicated to enhancing on-board comfort, with an even roomier cab. Offering outstanding technical performance and a broad range of services, the new arrival further consolidates Renault Magnum's position as the acknowledged benchmark for comfort, design and efficiency.

The benchmark on-board comfort
Already a ground-breaker in 1991 when it offered the first totally flat cab floor, Renault Magnum is once again setting new standards with a completely redesigned cab interior.

These fresh innovations are the result of surveys that Renault Trucks carried out among drivers, asking them to define their wants and needs, and what a truck should provide to make their everyday life on board a real pleasure.

By raising the roof in the new cab by 20cm, headroom now exceeds 2m and major enhancements have been made in interior storage. In essence, the new Renault Magnum now offers up to twice as much interior storage space as is usually available on a conventional long haul vehicle. For example, the front overhead unit, within easy reach of the driver when at the wheel, is three times the previous size. Furthermore, inspired by the aeronautics industry, Renault Trucks has also added a rear overhead unit with a 95 litre storage capacity.

To make the living space more pleasant and welcoming, great attention has been paid to the finish, ensuring the cab interior can provide drivers with all the comforts of home:

New modular interior lighting, designed to match the different phases of the day and the driver's activities

A new, even thicker sprung mattress (Classic version) for truly refreshing sleep

A new range of AV equipment allowing users to fully benefit from the latest technology available (CD + Bluetooth, MP3, USB connection, according to version)

All these features are carefully incorporated into new interior colour schemes, which make for a very distinctive style; with a working area, with technical materials and colours borrowed from the world of motor sports, combined with a living area in more restful shades.

The new Renault Magnum reflects all of Renault Trucks' expertise, incorporating a number of features to make driving a pleasure and to simplify operations. The Optidriver+ gearbox with its steering column mounted controls and the touch control electric window lift are two examples, both of which allow concentration to remain focused safely on driving.

The benchmark for design
Renault Trucks expresses its design creativity in the new Renault Magnum; using the design to project a powerful image, whilst also making the truck more functional.

The inimitable Renault Magnum profile has been updated with exterior equipment combining appealing design, safety and ease of maintenance.

With details such as its new chrome-finished accessories, LEDs and sun visor (with marker lights) fitted as standard, plus a new windscreen access step, new twin shade radiator grille and new three part bumper; the new Renault Magnum stands out with a highly distinctive identity and unique personality.

With its imposing exterior combined with its welcoming interior, Renault Trucks has made the Renault Magnum the unchallenged benchmark for long-distance haulage design.

The benchmark for efficiency
In addition to its appearance, cost efficiency and optimum productivity remain at the core of Renault Magnum's performance.

The DXi13 engine available on the Renault Magnum since 2006, in 460hp and 500hp versions, delivers punch and performance for high average journey speeds, superior to those offered by its predecessors.

Better still; the Renault Magnum can help hauliers to save up to 5% in fuel consumption, when combined with the improvements offered by the Renault Trucks Optifuel Solutions range of complementary products and services:

Optifuel Technology: with the automated Optidriver+ gearbox, highly appreciated by customers keen to control fuel consumption.

Optifuel Infomax: allowing vehicle use and fuel consumption to be carefully monitored.

Optifuel Training: economic driver training, which makes a noticeable difference to hauliers' operating costs.

The new Renault Magnum will be fully supported by a comprehensive range of services, such as Start & Drive maintenance contracts, Expandys extended warranties and the Renault Trucks 24/24 roadside assistance service. All of which are designed to offer drivers and hauliers the peace of mind they need for confident, efficient driving.

A new range of original accessories designed to optimise on-board comfort, safety, personalisation and vehicle performance, will further enhance the new Magnum range.

“Renault Trucks has once again been able to surprise the long-distance haulage industry by setting new standards in comfort, design and efficiency, with its new Renault Magnum,” comments Nigel Butler, Sales & Marketing Director. “With the international launch being the CV Show and with deliveries scheduled to start during the second half of 2008, the Magnum has reasserted it’s position as the benchmark for the long haul market.”
