CPL Petroleum upgrades to Renault Premiums The leading oil distribution company, CPL Petroleum Ltd., has taken delivery of 22 new Euro 4 Renault Premiums, the first ever Renaults to be bought by the company. In an important conquest deal for Renault Trucks and Renault Trucks distributor, JDS Trucks, the vehicles will be replacing trucks on CPL’s 220-strong fleet, currently made up of DAF, ERF and Foden.

In another first for CPL, eight of the new vehicles are Renault Premium Privilege 450.25 tractor units with Optidriver II fully automated gearboxes - the first automatic tractor units on its fleet. The remaining 14 Premium 320.26 distribution vehicles have rear lift and steer axles and are the first Renault trucks to be used in this CPL operation in the UK.

CPL will use the new trucks to deliver heating oil and transport fuels to commercial, industrial and domestic customers throughout the UK. Glen Tyrie, National Transport Manager, CPL Petroleum, says: “We are currently upgrading our fleet so that we have the most up to date technology available, helping us increase efficiency and protect the environment. The new Renault Premiums meet our criteria and CPL is also very impressed with the efforts made to ensure that the vehicles arrived on time. We have built good relationships with both Renault Trucks and JDS Trucks, from point of order to delivery.”

CPL operates from 39 depots in the UK and delivers 1.3 billion litres of petroleum products to businesses and homes every year. The company provides heating oil direct to 75,000 UK households and has over 100,000 customers. It has a fleet of 220 road tankers and employs over 480 employees. CPL Petroleum was acquired by the DCC Group on 1st September 2007.
