Renault Kerax fleet replaces DAF at Coastal Waste

4th November 2008 Print
Renault Kerax Coastal Waste, part of Devon Waste Management, has taken delivery of eight, 8x4 Renault Kerax 450.32 hookloaders. In an important conquest deal for Renault Trucks South West the new Euro 5 trucks are the first Renaults to join Coastal Waste’s 20-plus LGV fleet and will replace the company’s DAF hookloaders.

The vehicles will be used to service all of Devon County Council’s recycling centres, as well as commercial customers, developers and the private householder. Bodywork was undertaken by Midlands based, Boughtons.

Craig Adamson, Transport Manager, Coastal Waste, says: “When our vehicle replacement period came up, we looked at all the major marques, including Volvo, Scania, DAF and Renault. We found that Renault Trucks was very proactive in offering us the best overall package to move us forward, at a very competitive price.”

Coastal Waste cited the environmental credentials of the Euro 5 Kerax, which uses AdBlue technology, as another key purchase requirement for a company working in the recycling and environmental industry.

“The Kerax is also very user friendly,” continues Craig Adamson. “The vehicles have to operate around the rural country lanes of Devon and we have found that, being narrower than the DAFs, the Renault Kerax is more suited to this. Our drivers are very impressed with its ease of use and manoeuvrability.”

Coastal Waste is based at Devon Waste Management’s Exeter Transfer station in Marsh Barton. The company provides skip and roll on/ roll off container hire services, principally in the East, Mid and South Devon areas but also across the region. Services include container hire, collection & recycling and disposal of a range of domestic and commercial waste types.
