Renault fleet grows at Hayes Garden World

Hayes Garden World has taken delivery of a 6x2 Renault Premium 450.25 tractor unit, with Optidriver gearbox and Privilege cab, through Renault Trucks dealer, JDS Trucks. It is the sixth Renault Premium to join its 80-strong mixed fleet. JDS Trucks has also supplied the company’s landscaping division, Hayes Landscapes, with its first Renault Maxity steel tipper.

The Renault Premium will be used for container haulage, transporting products to the company’s central distribution hub in Kendal. Richard Hayes, Managing Director, Hayes Garden World, says: “We chose the Renault Premium based on a history of running quality Renault products as well as its great value for money. We buy all our vehicles outright and replace them every three years. We feel that the Renault Premium has good residual value, which is obviously important in the current economic climate.”

The company is also trialling the new Renault Maxity, with a propensity to purchase six more in the future. “The Maxity is being used for our domestic landscaping operation,” explains Richard Hayes. “We were impressed by its innovative flat front design which means it can get close up to a customer’s front or back garden, is easily manoeuvrable and can negotiate the winding roads prevalent in the Lake District.”

Hayes Garden World is a family business, stretching back 215 years, across five generations of the Hayes family. Based in the Lake District, the company began in the 19th Century as a gardening business which has expanded, over the years, into garden, leisure and lifestyle products. There are now centres in Ambleside and Leeds which attract over 1.8 million visitors a year. Hayes Landscapes is part of Hayes Garden World and undertakes garden landscaping for domestic customers as well as maintenance for English Heritage hotels. Hayes has a mixed fleet of vehicles ranging from 3.5 panel vans to 44 tonne Tractor Units.
