Avon’s hat-trick of British sportscar contracts

Avon Tyres has completed a hat-trick of OE fitment contracts with great British sportscar marques, with the announcement of a new agreement between Cooper Tire & Rubber Company Europe Ltd., a Melksham-based tire manufacturer, and Vanwall.

In the last six months, Cooper Europe has also secured contracts to be the official supplier with Connaught and Morgan, both classic British manufacturers.

Avon’s Turbo Steel 70 has been confirmed as the official tyre for Vanwall Cars’ awesome V12-powered Grand Prix Racer.

Starting at £50,000 per car, and built to each customer’s individual specification, the Vanwall GPR V12 is a road legal, two-seater racing car styled on the classic 1950s Formula One cars bearing the same name, made famous at the hands of motor racing legend, Sir Stirling Moss.

Weighing in at less than a ton, the Vanwall’s snarling 6.0 litre V12 engine, combined with the lightweight aluminium or carbon fibre composite body, effortlessly recreates all the thrill and excitement of the golden age of Grand Prix racing.

Off the back of a successful involvement with Avon Tyres stretching back some 20 years, Vanwall engineers have hand-picked the themed, high profile Turbo Steel 70 (235/70 R15) for their exceptional performance and roadholding capabilities in both wet and dry conditions.
