Scottish car buyers have more choice than ever

22nd May 2007 Print
Strong used car demand is fuelling a mini-boom in Scotland says leading vehicle auction company, British Car Auctions (BCA), as it adopts a new look for its Scottish centres. BCA has recently rebranded its Edinburgh and Glasgow centres as BCA Scotland with a new logo proudly showing the Scottish Saltire.

BCA has been operating in Scotland for well over 50 years and Stuart Beith, Regional Operations Director for BCA's Scottish centres is third generation in the auction industry, after father Alex and grandfather Angus. At the launch of the rebranding Beith commented “Demand is exceptionally strong at BCA in Scotland and we are pleased to be offering increasing numbers of vehicles from major leasing companies and dealer groups. This is because of the buying power we are generating from Scottish motor dealers and private used car buyers.

“I am sure that the superb facilities we have here in Scotland have contributed to our success. The Glasgow centre underwent a major rebuild in 2000 and the Edinburgh centre was refurbished earlier this year. And our new look fits well with the current optimistic business outlook in Scotland in these post-devolution times. Scotland as a whole is enjoying a great deal of inward investment and business is booming across many sectors.”

BCA Scotland currently sells five days a week with an impressive sales programme offering wide choice and availability. BCA Edinburgh’s regular Tuesday sale of Fleet Cars even offers internet bidding via BCA’s LiveOnline service, which gives far-flung business buyers a chance to participate in the bidding from their laptop or PC as if they were in the auction hall.

BCA Scotland also runs the biggest and most comprehensive commercial vehicle sales programme in the country, with up to two LCV sales a week and monthly HGV, plant and equipment auctions offering hundreds of vehicles. Plus both locations stage special budget evening sales – Glasgow on a Monday and Edinburgh on a Tuesday – that offer cars valued up to £3,000.

Beith concluded “With such a broad selection of good quality vehicles available to Scottish buyers at auction, competition for the best cars has been strong.”
