Harvey Nichols hails London taxi to promote new Istanbul store Upmarket designer boutique Harvey Nichols has bought its own London-style taxi to let the world know about its newest overseas store.

The British fashion label has just opened a store in Istanbul and wanted to get the message out on the streets.

So it bought a British purpose-built cab from manufacturer LTI Vehicles and exported it to Turkey.

The top-of-the-range TX4 – the latest incarnation of the classic black cab – boasts a DVD and LCD screen and leather seats and has been painted with Harvey Nichols livery.

“Harvey Nichols is a world-famous British brand so when it opened its latest overseas store, in Istanbul, it wanted to promote this using something that is instantly recognisable as being British,” said Nigel Walters, Overseas Operations Co-ordinator for LTI Vehicles, based in Coventry.

“They bought the latest London style taxi as it fitted the bill perfectly, itself being a world famous British icon.

“We hear it is really turning heads on the streets of Istanbul.”
