Energy efficiency shouldn’t be a struggle
Fairinvestment.co.uk is advising UK householders to get energy efficient this week and do their part to lessen their carbon footprint for the eleventh annual Energy Saving Week which runs from October 22 to 28.In an attempt to promote awareness of climate change, Britain is being encouraged to go green. However, according to the latest figures from The Energy Saving Trust, while more than 80 percent of Brits believe that climate change is having an impact on the UK right now, a disappointing 40 percent are doing nothing to reduce their energy use.
Brits are still falling behind other European countries in terms of environmental awareness according to the Energy Saving Trust’s ‘Green Barometer’ - the first national index of public opinion on green issues. However, there are several small changes that consumers could make to reduce their carbon footprints and help the fight against climate change.
David Doulton, Director of Fairinvestment.co.uk, the financial news and comparison website, comments: “Being energy efficient shouldn’t be a struggle. There are a number of things that people can do to save energy in their homes such as ensuring that they don’t leave electrical appliances on standby or installing good insulation and draught proofing their windows and doors.
“It seems that more and more companies are keen to show off their green credentials in order to attract the more environmentally savvy consumer. This is good news all round as ultimately it means that people are being offered the option of selecting a more eco –conscious supplier, whether that is for gas, electricity or telecoms.
“If consumers are concerned about their choice of supplier, we would advise people in the first instance to consider swapping their energy provider to a greener alternative. At Fairinvestment.co.uk, we offer a quick and easy energy comparison service that shows who is offering the greenest tariffs and what affect switching will have from one provider to another.”
