Flintoff in the driving seat with Volkswagen’s Touareg
British cricket star Andrew Flintoff has become a brand ambassador for the Volkswagen Touareg 4x4 model, having taken delivery of a 5.0-litre V10 TDI model. Flintoff recently enjoyed the opportunity to put the Touareg through its paces at an off-road course, where he tested the vehicle’s all-terrain capabilities.Flintoff, or Freddie as he is affectionately known by cricket fans, has become one of the driving forces behind England’s cricketing success. And now, with a Touareg behind him, he hopes to be driving off with The Ashes at the end of the summer.
The cricketing all-rounder is a perfect fit with the Volkswagen Touareg. The model, known for its all-round ability, is designed to deliver class-leading performance both on and off the road.
“The Touareg is perfect for the lifestyle I lead both on and off the pitch,” commented Flintoff. “I have been impressed by the Touareg’s power and performance – whilst comfort and safety are also top priorities for my family.”
On the road, the Touareg offers luxury saloon car comfort and benefits from a host of electronic driver aids, such as ABS, brake assist and ESP (Electronic Stabilisation Programme). In addition, features including permanent four-wheel drive; low and high gear ratios; electronic traction control linked to an auto-locking centre differential; hill start and descent assist; and short front and rear overhangs all contribute to class-leading capability when venturing off the beaten track.
The Touareg range offers a choice of five engines, three diesel and two petrol, and includes one of the most powerful production diesels in the world, the V10 TDI engine. All models in the range are well appointed and equipped, and there is a comprehensive array of optional luxury equipment.
