Tesco launches gas and electricity comparison service

29th September 2008 Print
Tescocompare.com has announced the expansion of its non-insurance based comparison services with the launch of its gas and electricity supplier comparison channel. Unlike some price comparison sites the Tescocompare.com search includes all of the big 6 suppliers.

The new utilities channel adds to Tescocompare.com's online service and provides consumers with a comprehensive comparison service of gas and electricity suppliers, including green electricity deals and deals for consumers with prepayment meters.

Consumers can narrow their search by the following tabs:

"Price Freeze" details how long tariff prices will be guaranteed for, allowing consumers to budget more easily.

"Rewards" details tariffs offering consumers rewards for switching.

"Internet Only" lists tariffs for consumers who prefer to manage their accounts online.

All electricity suppliers featured on the site have had their green credentials rated. The percentage of electricity supplied from renewable sources is rated alongside price so consumers that want to can choose the greenest deal that meets their budget by selecting the "Green" tab. Consumers are also able to search quotes from specialist green energy suppliers such as ecotricity and Good Energy.

The site also provides consumers with energy saving tips for their homes to further reduce their fuel bills, FAQs are answered and advice provided to help consumers through the whole process, from quote to switching provider.

Matthew Dransfield of Tescocompare.com comments: "At Tescocompare.com we have always said we will create a comprehensive comparison search covering many different products and services. And in times of rising utility prices, finding the best deal for your gas and electricity provider has never been more important.

"Our utility comparison service not only compares different energy providers - it also offers energy savings tips and extra advice on how to switch utility providers.

"The ‘Green' tab allows consumers to compare electricity providers and their green credentials. Our rating of green tariffs analyses the percentage of electricity from renewable sources, ensuring consumers get the greenest tariff for their budget. The other tabs, ‘Price Freeze', ‘Internet Only' and ‘Rewards', further enable the consumer to choose the best provider to meet their budget, payment and account handling preferences."
