Brown dawn - Chance for a new start for business says RMIF
‘Businesses in the retail motor sector will wish to see a stable economy and competent government, so Gordon Brown’s decade at the Treasury does at least mean he has some experience in this area,’ said Alec Murray, non-executive chairman of the Retail Motor Industry Federation (RMIF), commenting on Brown’s appointment as Prime Minister today (Wednesday 27 June 2007).Murray continues: ‘A new Government should mean a fresh perspective. Ten years of ever-increasing business regulation has made it harder and harder for small businesses to thrive in the UK. Larger concerns also struggle at times. By reducing bureaucratic regulations, and maintaining steady economic conditions Brown would be helping businesses, and the overall economy.
Murray adds: ‘Our sector employs 600,000 people in the UK, and is a major wealth creator, so making it easier for businesses to thrive would be good for the economy.’
