People buying a new TV in time for Christmas could save power and cut their energy bills by using a smaller TV screen, says Which? this month.

On average, a 19 to 23-inch LCD TV screen uses around 40 to 50 watts when switched on and typically costs about £11 a year to run. However, a 40-inch LCD uses almost 200 watts more power and costs four times as much to run.
