Confused.com: Scottish & Southern's energy price cut

6th February 2009 Print
Gareth Kloet, head of utilities at Confused.com, says: "While any price cut is a welcome move for the millions of customers who are already with Scottish & Southern Energy, the announced price reductions of 9% for electricity and 4% for gas simply do not go far enough.

"Scottish & Southern has made the announcement almost two months before the changes will become effective, consequently missing the severe cold weather that the country is currently suffering from.

"Customers are not just concerned about what they might pay in the future for their energy but, more importantly, they are worried about whether they can afford to switch on the heating now, when they need it the most.

"My advice to Scottish & Southern customers is simple - now that you know what's going to happen with your energy prices in the spring, take a look at what the competition is already offering in order to ensure that you are on the best tariff. The fact that four of the other ‘big six' providers have yet to show their hand is definitely worth bearing in mind."
