uSwitch.com: npower reduces energy prices

16th March 2009 Print
Energy supplier npower has announced that it is cutting prices. The reduction - 8% for electricity - comes into effect on 31st March. It means that the average npower dual fuel bill will drop from £1,291 to £1,256.

Although the supplier is the last to announce a price cut, only British Gas customers have actually seen lower prices appear on their bills. Its reductions came into effect on the 19th February.

Will Marples, energy expert at uSwitch.com, says: "By the end of March, the majority of consumers will be seeing some small benefit from lower wholesale energy prices. But it has taken time and price cuts have averaged out at 4.3% or £564], which will only make a small dent in household energy bills.

"Consumers should now boost this small saving by moving to a better deal - switching to a competitive plan could cut your energy bill by up to £350."
