npower launches search for Britain’s Bright Ideas

30th April 2009 Print
Have you designed the world’s first clockwork toaster? Or designed an anti-standby device in your own home? Then npower needs you!

Britain’s Bright Ideas is a nationwide search for new energy saving inventions and ideas – gizmos, gadgets or smart ideas to make energy efficiency easier for all of us.

Legendary scientist Professor Heinz Wolff is kicking off the search, on the back of research that shows 40% of adults are convinced they have already come up with a great idea or invention that they hope could make them rich.

Meanwhile one in four men (26%) regularly devise new creations while a further 40% of all adults asked are spurred on to try inventing by the current economic climate. Moreover, 36% of the British public is intent on concocting contraptions that reduce household bills, saving both energy and money.

Prof Heinz Wolff, famous for making science fun, says, ‘I’m delighted to discover there are so many enterprising adults out there. Energy efficiency is an incredibly important topic but I’m here to prove it’s also accessible, achievable and even exciting! The more people that give science a go the beter, so what are you waiting for? You could be onto a money-saving planet-protecting winner. Eureka!’

npower has linked up with Wallace & Gromit in its new adverts, and it seems the British public shares the animated duo’s have-a-go approach to innovation.

Budding inventors should act on their inspiration by entering their clever thoughts at npower.com/brightideas. All ideas will be judged by a panel of industry experts and the most inventive entry will be brought to life in a Wallace & Gromit-style sketch. The winner will also scoop a batch of energy efficiency gizmos, plus npower will give Britain’s Brightest Idea a helping hand to becoming an everyday energy saving reality.
