Thatcham accredits 300th crash part

Thatcham, the insurer funded crash research centre, has announced the accreditation of its 300th crash part. The part a Vauxhall Astra bonnet joins a catalogue of parts which have undergone and achieved the centre’s rigorous accreditation criteria. The Thatcham Accredited Parts programme was launched to bring a recognised badge of quality to the alternative parts market.

The programme includes parts from 9 manufacturers and provides a robust accreditation for a full range of cosmetic repairs, including panels, bonnets and bumpers.

Parts are sourced from suppliers worldwide who have submitted their parts for accreditation, Thatcham’s quality technicians not only conduct thorough evaluations on the parts to ensure conformity to Thatcham’s exacting criterion for fit and finish, but also focus on the manufacturing process to ensure every part produced maintains the acceptable standard.

Dean Lander, Thatcham’s Quality Manager welcomes this milestone in the development of the accreditation programme “We work closely with all the manufacturers who submit their parts for accreditation, by being involved right at the beginning of the manufacturing process we have helped develop an alternative source of parts which the crash repair market can fit with confidence, as well as achieving savings on their parts bill.
