Thatcham Quality Accreditation assists Fleet Managers

9th July 2007 Print
Thatcham this week launches a new criterion within Thatcham Quality Accreditation (TQA) specifically for Fleet Management systems. The new criterion “TQA Criteria for Telemetry -Fleet Management Systems” has been developed to provide 2 levels of recognition.

Level 1. Fleet Management Standard
Systems which provide fleet movement data and other additional information to the benefit of fleet organisations.

Level 2. Fleet Management Secure
Systems which provide fleet movement data and other additional information to the benefit of fleet organisations, as well as providing alerts in the event of illegal movement.

As we launch this criterion we are delighted to confirm the successful accreditation of the first Fleet Management Standard systems:

Mileage Management’s ‘Asset’ and ‘Live’ fleet management systems
‘Trac Automotive’ supplied by Alphamicro Components
‘Tracker Reporter’ from Tracker Network UK

The launch of the TQA Standard for Fleet Management Systems comes at an opportune time as Thatcham’s activities including vehicle security, safety and standards of repair become of increasing interest to those responsible for fleets and their drivers.

Speaking about the TQA for Fleet Management Systems, Thatcham’s accreditation manager, Dean Lander says “This is another great development for Thatcham Quality Accreditation. We maintain all of our usual high standards in relation to manufacturing process control evaluations, with systems tested to Thatcham’s telemetry system performance test specification ensuring that the units are robust and reliable. We then evaluate the systems user interface to ensure the system is easy to use and provides accurate and relevant information for the fleet managers.”

Mileage Management Limited, based in Silverstone, is one of the UK’s fastest growing telemetry companies with a range of products aimed at fleet operators.
“We are delighted to achieve TQA accreditation for our telemetry fleet management system” said Andrew Conrich, Sales Director at Mileage Management. “Thatcham is a respected authority giving expert reviews and advice and is looked to throughout the industry to verify the build quality, design and performance of products. Each product is rigorously tested and this testing is intended to provide confidence in the product performance and an objective evaluation of its capabilities.”

Andrew continued “The Thatcham TQA accreditation will give all our potential customers a trusted third party reference giving confidence in the Mileage Management product in a crowded market”

Commenting from Alpha Micro, Managing Director, Christos Papakyriakou adds, “We are delighted to be one of the first to achieve the approval standard for Thatcham’s Fleet Management systems. The recognition is a clear testament to the reliability and strength of TRAC Automotive, which as part of our commitment to design-based distribution, is providing unprecedented levels of service for today’s fleet managers.”
