Lex colleague shares UK expertise with African Fleet Industry

24th July 2007 Print
A recent business trip to South Africa proved to one Lex colleague that countries may be oceans apart in distance, but they still share the same key fleet issues.

John Webb, Associate Director of Lex Momentum Consultancy Services, flew to Africa recently in response to a request from the Continent’s major fleet industry players to share with them the knowledge of the UK’s market leading leasing company.

John chaired the prestigious Fleet Management Africa event, held at the Park Hyatt Hotel in Johannesburg and was the international speaker for two sessions, Operations Risk Management and Achieving Value from Operational Fleets.

The meeting was attended by over 100 delegates from all over South Africa, Zimbabwe and Botswana, and included fleet and transport managers from public and private sectors and suppliers from the African fleet industry.

Commenting on the event, John says: “It was interesting to see how many similarities there were between the UK and SA markets. Although there are specific problems with security and fuel theft, all of the fleets were seeking improved customer service levels from suppliers, and the public sector fleets were considering the potential benefits of outsourcing.”
