Mobile service ensures fleet vehicles are kept in tip top condition

10th August 2007 Print
Manheim’s Defleet Services division has launched its new FleetCare service in response to demand from fleet operators.

Research conducted during the first half of 2007 identified a need for an in-life vehicle condition maintenance service which was more than just a simple valet.

FleetCare offers a comprehensive menu of vehicle preparation and enhancement options, plus related services such as sign-writing removal and even vehicle inspections. All of this is provided on-site at customers’ premises using specially converted vehicles which have their own water and power supply. The on-board jet-wash facility is even powerful enough to use for truck and trailer cleaning.

With prices starting from as little as £9.95 for a standard valet, customers can choose to have a full ‘back to new’ preparation service, a specialist machine polishing option to restore the body lustre, minor scratch removal and even a revolutionary Superguard treatment which uses a high gloss paint sealant and comes with a three year warranty.

David Mercer, Managing Director, Defleet Services said: “It’s a simple fact that cars or commercial vehicles maintained in good condition throughout their life are more likely to be better looked after than ones where appearance is getting tired. Company motorists will inevitably take more pride in their vehicles and consequently the incidence of minor damage during life is significantly reduced.

This obviously helps ensure vehicles are in optimum condition at the point of defleet, thus keeping end-of-contract reconditioning costs to a minimum. In turn, it makes them more attractive in the used market generating higher residual prices in the shortest time.”

“One of the attractions for fleet customers is that FleetCare can be available as part of a much greater integrated service available from Manheim over the life of the fleet vehicle. This can include inspection, collection, damage reclaim management and the full range of remarketing services,” said Mercer.

FleetCare is being rolled out nationally in conjunction with Flying Colours, Manheim’s smart repair service, during the last quarter of 2007. It will use a combination of in-house operatives and a network of fully trained franchisees, all working through a centralised booking facility. Franchise recruitment is already underway and the new service has been fully vetted and provisionally approved by the British Franchise Association.
