RAC unveil details of ‘Charity Track Day Challenge’

RAC has announced that they are to hold the inaugural ‘RAC Charity Track Day Challenge’ event at Rockingham on 28 August, with celebrities including James Cracknell, Andy Scott-Lee and Michelle Scott-Lee (nee Heaton), joining Team RAC drivers Colin Turkington and Tom Onslow-Cole to help raise funds for the Caudwell Children charity.

The celebrities will be competing head to head in a variety of motoring tests at one of the most high profile circuits in the UK including high speed single seater racing, rally driving, 4x4 and even a tyre change challenge.

Helping out on the day will be the full support of Team RAC, including drivers Turkington and Onslow-Cole, who currently stand fifth and tenth respectively in the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship.

Michelle Heaton said: “It promises to be a very exciting day and all for a wonderful cause which is so close to my heart due to my role as an ambassador for Caudwell Children. Having experts on hand in Team RAC will make it a great experience for everyone taking part and I can’t wait to get behind the wheel on the day!”

Colin Turkington said: “I’m delighted to be supporting the RAC Charity Track Day Challenge. It’s for a fantastic charity in Caudwell Children and anything we can do at Team RAC to give something back to people not as privileged as ourselves is an honour to be involved with. I’m sure the celebrities attending will have a superb day, and
hopefully I can pass on a few tips and words of advice to help them out!”

Caudwell Children is a national children’s charity, which provides direct donations of treatment, therapies, equipment and dying wish holidays to all special needs children across the UK. What makes the charity unique from any other UK charity, is that all of the administration and management costs are paid for by the charity’s founder and Chairman, former Phones4U owner John Caudwell. This ensures that every pound raised goes direct to the children.
