Don’t head off on a Bank Horrorday
With millions of motorists set to take to the roads this bank holiday, Kwik-Fit is advising motorists that a few simple checks, in advance of travelling, could well head off a bank holiday motoring horror. For example, research from Kwik-Fit found that nearly eight million UK motorists (nearly half) never check the condition of their car batteries and a further 6.9 million motorists (25%) never get their tyres checked either. Together tyres and batteries are the root cause of more than one-in-four vehicle breakdowns in the UK.
To make sure that motorists reach their destinations on time Kwik-Fit has made ‘Heading off?’ – its full summer motoring checklist – available for download from kwik-fit.com/safety. By entering your car registration details online, Kwik-Fit’s ‘Heading off?’ checklist will even include the correct tyre pressure for your car – so that you can have all the information you need on one handy sheet.
Motorists will also be pleased to learn that Kwik-Fit is offering a free drive-in battery, tyre and oil check to make sure that they are in good shape this weekend. Kwik-Fit will even top up to one litre of free engine oil, if required. Perfect if you would prefer someone else checking your car for you.
David White, customer service director at Kwik-Fit commented: “No-one wants to spend their valuable holiday time sat by the side of the road waiting for an emergency breakdown vehicle. A few simple checks can actually do something to reduce the amount of summer breakdowns – indeed 27% of breakdowns are caused by battery and tyre problems – which could probably have been avoided. Our checklist can really help motorists head off any problems before heading off!”
