Motorists can now be really picky when it comes to buying an extended warranty for their car.

In an industry first, visitors to the brand new website from independent automotive warranty specialist, Warranty Direct (warrantydirect.co.uk), can quite literally build their own level of cover.

The innovative, easy to navigate, function also adds online claims reporting and management with the ability to store quotes and return to them at a later date.

Launched in response to customer feedback, motorists are required to take out cover for engine and gearbox failure, but thereafter it becomes a totally flexible policy. You can choose from a number of options, including catalytic converter, stereo, air conditioning unit, battery and alarm system, and keep an eye on the running total as you add or delete items.

"It is ideal for those who only want a couple of features on their vehicle covered," explained Duncan McClure Fisher from Warranty Direct. Naturally, off- the-shelf, comprehensive packages in the shape of ‘Gold’ and ‘Driveline’ policies can still be purchased.

The website has been granted the Plain English Campaign Award for "clear and easy to understand policies and terms and conditions".
