Celebrities star for RAC Charity Track Day Challenge

The celebrities competed head to head in a variety of motoring tests at one of the most high profile circuits in the UK including high speed single seater racing, rally driving, 4x4, karting, wet grip and even a tyre change challenge.
The winning team, who were able to present a cheque for £15,000 on behalf of RAC to Caudwell Children, was headed up by Michelle Scott-Lee and the driver of the day was awarded to Radio 1’s JK from the JK and Joel show.
Helping out on the day was the full support of Team RAC, including drivers Turkington and Onslow-Cole, who are preparing for the penultimate round of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship at Knockhill on Sunday (2 September).
Colin Turkington said: “I was delighted to be involved in the RAC Charity Track Day Challenge. Caudwell Children is a fantastic charity and anything we can do at Team RAC to give something back to people not as privileged as ourselves is an honour to be involved with. The celebrities who attended had a superb day, and hopefully I passed on a few tips and words of advice to help them out!”
Michelle Scott-Lee said: “It was a very exciting day and all for a wonderful cause which is so close to my heart due to my role as an ambassador for Caudwell Children. Having experts on hand in Team RAC made it a great experience for everyone taking part and it was an added bonus to be part of the winning team!”
Alastair Pegg, Director of RAC Marketing, commented: “The RAC Charity Track Day Challenge was a wonderful day for all involved. We felt it only right that as sponsors of Team RAC we used our motorsport expertise to assist a very worth cause this season.
“The event also corresponds with our ‘RAC to the rescue’ campaign, which we have integrated into our sponsorship activity this season. Through this we’ve assisted a wide variety of audiences including our drivers, motorsport fans, media and now charities. I’d like to thank Rockingham for all their assistance in the event, the celebrities for their support on the day and Caudwell Children, who I hope thoroughly enjoyed the day.”
Caudwell Children is a national children’s charity, which provides direct donations of treatment, therapies, equipment and dying wish holidays to all special needs children across the UK. What makes the charity unique from any other UK charity, is that all of the administration and management costs are paid for by the charity’s founder and Chairman, former Phones4U owner John Caudwell. This ensures that every pound raised goes direct to the children.
Trudi Beswick, Chief Executive Officer for Caudwell Children, added: “We are delighted that RAC chose us as the dedicated charity for their Charity Track Day Challenge event.
“We would like to thank all of the celebrities who took part in the event on behalf of the charity for giving up their time, which helped us raise vital funds to help even more special needs children in the UK.“
