Win a newly restored classic car at the Classic Motor Show 2007

30th August 2007 Print
Visitors to this year’s Classic Motor Show, held at Birmingham’s NEC from 9th to 11th November, will have the chance to drive away in a newly restored classic car every day in an amazing free prize draw. Every visitor will be entered into the competition to win a starter classic car that has been constructed throughout the day on the Wheeler Dealer Live Stage, hosted by TV motoring experts Mike Brewer and Edd China. At the end of each day the completed car, which will also be taxed, MOT’d and insured, will be driven away by its ecstatic new owner.

As the show opens each day, presenter Mike will set a challenge for mechanic Edd and his team – to build a car before the show closes. At the end of each day, a winner will be selected and the car, finished or not, will be theirs even if it means supplying the leftover parts in a carrier bag! Visitors will be able to watch the car take shape as well as enjoying classic car displays on this year’s show theme ‘Firsts and Lasts’. There will also be surprise guests, question and answer sessions and back by popular demand, some fun classic game shows based on motoring.

Mike Brewer, presenter of television shows such as Pulling Power, Deals on Wheels, and Wheeler Dealers, said: “We had a tremendous response to last year’s live stage and wanted to do something even more spectacular. The Classic Motor Show is the only event that will be giving a car away every single day and these cars will not only be taxed, MOT’d and insured by Footman James but also valeted by Meguiars. Each will also have an engraved tag signed by myself and Edd so that will double their value!”

Edd China is best known on television as Mike’s over worked mechanic and has worked with him on Auto Trader and Wheeler Dealer. When he’s not in the garage, Edd creates extraordinary and wacky vehicles and hold the Guinness World Record for ‘fastest furniture’ for a driving a sofa at an amazing 87mph. Other vehicles in his fleet include a street legal four-poster bed, a record breaking ‘Hot Desk’ driving office, the V8-powered ‘Robomow’ which is a scaled-up version of a robotic lawnmower, and the eye-popping ‘Trolleysaurus Rex’, officially the ‘World’s largest motorised shopping trolley’ standing at over 3.5m tall!

Spanning five halls and half-a-million square feet, the Classic Motor Show is the place for people who are passionate about cars. With over 1,000 rare and retro cars from around the World and every era, and over 300 trade stands offering every conceivable product or service for classic car owners and motoring enthusiasts, it is the UK’s biggest and best classic motoring extravaganza. Other features include a live Restoration Theatre and Dream Rides courtesy of The Sporting Bears Motor Club, who offer visitors ten-mile rides as a passenger in one of more than a hundred ‘dream cars’ in their collection in exchange for a donation to charity. The Classic Motor Show is the only major motoring exhibition to offer this amazing opportunity and Dream Rides raised over £35,000 for children’s charities at the 2006 show.
