Classics set to fly at H&H Duxford sale

Hen’s teeth
Selling for ‘No Reserve’ is an incredibly rare British Sports Saloon – one of only 36 Autovias ever produced, with coachwork by Arthur Mulliner. This tidy example was built in 1938 and has remained in the same ownership for the last 44 years. It will be very interesting to see what it makes.
Reputedly the 15th of just 26 Morgan Plus Four Plus models made, the 1964 example on sale is from the deceased estate of a renowned Morgan enthusiast. It only recently emerged from a 27-year restoration, during which it was converted to RHD and uprated to fast road specification – £30,000-35,000.
Oldies but goldies
At the time of writing, one of the oldest cars in the sale is the 1914 Calcott 1.5HP Open Tourer. One of possibly only 20 Calcotts left in existence, it represents a rare opportunity for purchase – £13,000-15,000. The stately 1938 Rolls-Royce 25/30 HP Saloon sports green and black coachwork by Windovers and carries an estimate of £20,000-25,000, while the 7th Series 1927 Lancia Lambda with coachwork by Curtis is expected to fetch £40,000-45,000.
Quick ones
The 1930 Austin EA Sports Ulster is well known in vintage racing circles and has only recently been recommissioned by a renowned marque specialist – £16,000-18,000. The 1957 MKI 3.4-litre Jaguar boasts some serious rally history, having apparently competed in the 1958 and 1960 Monte Carlo events and the 1960 Tulip rally – £8,000-10,000.
The 1956 Cooper T39 ‘Bobtail’ is regarded as possibly the most original of the three ’56 Works cars made and would have been driven by circuit maestros Jack Brabham, Stirling Moss and Ivor Bueb. This lovely example of period motor racing history is estimated to fetch £90,000-100,000.
Other entries of note so far include:
1951 Cooper MKV F3 car – £14,000-17,000
1904 Alldays & Onions – £38,000-42,000
1952 Bentley MKVI Special – £60,000-65,000
1966 Aston Martin DB6 Vantage – £68,000-75,000
There will be an automobilia sale on October 9 and a motorcycle and bicycle sale prior to the cars on October 10. Further information on these and all other H&H sales can be found at classic-auctions.com.
