Jewelultra Fiesta Racing Team on its way to a podium finish

Jewelultra Fiesta Racing Team on its way to a podium finish Jewelultra, the makers of the world renowned paint protection process Diamondbrite, are delighted with the performance of racing driver Barry Edwards in this year’s Ford Fiesta Championship.

The Kent based company is the principal sponsor for Barry Edwards Class B Fiesta Zetec throughout the 2007 British Racing and Sports Car Club season, which has featured races at some of the best circuits in the country including Brands Hatch and Silverstone.

This year’s championship has been the most exciting to date and the action has been featured on regular slots on Sky’s Men and Motors Channel in the programme Race and Rally UK.

Barry, who lives in Tunbridge Wells is Dealer Principal of Ford Dealer Dees of Wimbledon and is racing his own Ford Fiesta in Class B. It is a Mk4 Zetec ‘S’ with a 1400cc standard Zetec engine. The car is prepared by Daniels Motorsport, who boast over fifteen years experience in preparing Championship winning Fiesta’s for this formula.

The cars run to strict Group N regulations. This forbids them being modified, and is strictly policed by the series scrutineers. There are three classes for 2007, and all the cars run on controlled Dunlop Slick tyres.

There are only two races left to go in the eight event and fifteen race season which started in May. Barry is currently 4th in the Championship and will be pulling out all the stops to get a podium place at the last event, the Formula Ford Festival, which is on the 20th and 21st October at Brands Hatch.

Barry said; ‘’This season has been very successful, with many podiums along the way. We are currently fourth in the Championship, and with one event and two races to go, we have a realistic chance of rounding the year off in third place overall.

“My team, Daniels Motorsport, who run a dozen Fiestas in the Championship have prepared a great car throughout the season which has enabled me to be so competitive’’. Team boss, Peter Daniels added; ‘’Barry has shown consistent front running pace this season, with some excellent results in what is an extremely competitive series’’

The season has been an eventful one for Barry and the Daniels Motorsport Team.

The first race at Anglesey, in North Wales, 27th May, resulted in a good podium finish, but on the way to a second podium on day two, a mechanical failure caused a disappointing non finish.

Next up was Oulton Park, 30th June, which was a very wet affair. However, with a great set up and after initially running third, the car came home undamaged in fourth place.

The next event moved back nearer to home and to Lydden Hill near Dover, on 15th July. The first race resulted in a fourth place and on day two, Barry had his best finish this campaign with a second place.

The competition then moved to Europe, and visited Croix en Ternois in Northern France, on 29th July. In race two, a podium finish resulted in Barry running fourth in the Championship.

It was another wet event at Rockingham on 18th August but Barry finished third. At Brands Hatch on Saturday 1st September, Barry and the team had a great weekend with sponsors Jewelultra there to see him finish 5th on Saturday (one hundredth of a second off 4th!) and after a fantastic start, and getting hit from behind on lap two, finished 4th on the Sunday.

The Diamondbrite paint protection process is professionally applied to keep any car looking like it has just come out of the showroom. The brilliant shine and environmental protection offered by Diamondbrite is the only one of the market guaranteed to last for six years. So even after the gruelling calendar of races Barry’s car will need just a hose down to look like new again.
