Leeds Building Society ‘delighted with lending in Ireland’

17th January 2007 Print
Leeds Building Society entered the Irish market in September last year, following its successful Euro mortgage launch on the Spanish mainland in October 2005.

The excellent quality of the mortgages in Ireland, combined with the business volumes and feedback from brokers has resulted in the Society looking to expand its mortgage proposition.

Kim Rebecchi, General Manager - Sales said, "We are absolutely delighted with lending in Ireland. The feedback we have had so far is that a competitive product, combined with a fast and efficient service and a flexible approach to assessing the customers’ ability to repay the loan is exactly what customers and intermediaries are looking for."

Leeds Building Society offers its mortgages on an interest only basis and this is extremely popular. Brokers can also speak to a Business Development Manger, Andrew Briggs, who is based in Ireland and can give them an instant decision. Access to this ’man on the ground’ has proved popular, saving valuable time by abridging the process from initial enquiry to formal offer.

Kim Rebecchi continued "Our proven track record as one of the most efficient and best performing building societies in the UK, operating in a highly regulated and competitive market, has enabled us to deliver a successful exclusive pilot with IMAF members, IFG and Financial Engineering.

"However, we are constantly looking to improve our product and service proposition. We will shortly be opening up access to our Spanish Euro mortgages, which will enable people in Ireland to purchase a property in Spain."
