Cooper’s drive for safety with National Tyre Safety Month

Cooper’s drive for safety with National Tyre Safety Month Cooper Tire is throwing its weight behind the first National Tyre Safety Month, which will run throughout October.

As well as giving away sets of tyres in competitions to run across newspapers nationwide, Cooper will also be helping to highlight the importance of maintaining tyres correctly and replacing tyres before they become dangerously worn. Cooper recommends that, even on very low-mileage cars, tyres should be changed at least every 5 years.

The Safety Month campaign, run by Tyresafe and supported by Channel 5’s Vicki Butler-Henderson, will focus on the important part that tyres play in road safety. One of the key messages of the month-long initiative will be under-inflation and how this can impact on safety, fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

Independent tyre retailers, garages and franchise dealers are being encouraged by TyreSafe to offer their customers free tyre safety and pressure checks. According to TyreSafe, almost 25% of cars and vans on the roads in the UK have at least one badly worn or illegal tyre.

National Tyre Safety Month kicked off on October 1. For more information, visit coopertire.com or tyresafe.org.
